The 2021 James Suckling Top 100 Wines have been announced with the Remus 2018 Old Vine Eden Valley Shiraz and the Romulus 2018 Old Vine Barossa Valley Shiraz making the list of top Australian wines.
James Suckling has a team of ten tasters that in 2021, rated almost 25,000 wines to curate the top 100 lists.
Having both the cooler Eden Valley and warmer Barossa Valley represented in this list is a testament to the Barossa’s ability to make outstanding Shiraz.
The two Top 100 listed wines are;
Remus 2018 Old Vine Eden Valley Shiraz – 98 Pts.
“This is so very complex and fragrant with such impressive Eden Valley spice and blueberry fruit, as well as dark-stone nuances. The blueberry flavors are so pure and essence-like and silky tannins carry the flavors so deep and vivid. Seamless. Drink over the next fifteen years.”
Romulus 2018 Old Vine Barossa Valley Shiraz – 96 Pts.
“Abundant sweet spice and red fruit, as well as licorice and tar. There’s impressive density here with deep blackberry and chocolate flavors and bold, smooth tannins. Some convincing
density and length.”
Both wines were reviewed by renowned wine critic Nick Stock.
The full list of Top 100 wines can be found here.
Both wines will be released in March this year.
