FREYA Riesling
Born from high altitude Eden Valley
Eden Valley provides the ideal setting for the Riesling grape with its combination of altitude, climate and soils contributing to a long slow ripening period so critical to build flavour while limiting the depletion of the grape’s natural acidity.
Fruit destined to Freya is sourced from three unique Eden Valley vineyards, 2 of which are directly managed by Sons of Eden, the other a long-term grower.
All fruit is hand-picked, gently whole bunch pressed and cool fermented with 3 months on yeast lees to build palate texture. The result is a wine that shines as a vibrant young style but also, with careful cellaring, can age magnificently for many years.
FREYA 2023 Riesling
Classic from an outstanding vintage
Riesling from the 2023 Eden Valley harvest was outstanding, with pristine fruit displaying intense flavours and great natural acidity.
The January to February 2023 period was dry with generous periods of daytime heat which pushed the vines comfortably into veraison. Notably the nights were cool which allowed the vines to recover and retain generous levels of acidity critical in crafting well balanced Rieslings.

FREYA 2016 Cellar Release Riesling
Matured to perfect harmony
Since the inception of Freya in 2005 we have been putting away a limited amount as part of our Cellar Release program. The program allows us to offer a deliciously aged, Eden Valley Riesling, stored at optimum conditions, right here at the winery.
The program is designed to store selected vintages of Freya at optimum cellaring conditions and then release a deliciously aged Eden Valley Riesling at its most interesting point in time.
This extended maturation brings an extra dimension of finesse and balance to the wines, achieving the ultimate expression of our prized Eden Valley vineyard sites.
