2022 Vintage

97 Points, Wine Orbit (Sam Kim)

Exquisite and poised, the wine displays vibrant notes of crunchy apple, lime/lemon peel, and wet limestone, leading to a brilliantly focused palate that showcases remarkable concentration and balance. It’s refined and elegant, with excellent structure, finishing with stunning tension and energy.

95 Points, Halliday Wine Companion (Dave Brookes)

Single-vineyard Riesling from High Eden, some 550m above sea level. Pale straw in the glass with aromas of fresh lime, grapefruit and green apple with hints of citrus blossom, crushed quartz and lemon drops. There is a real intensity to the wine’s precision here, a steely stare and briny, sapid intensity as it powers across the palate, crystalline and showing great velocity.

95 Points, James Suckling

Mineral-driven with tightly wound aromas of gun smoke, lemon peel and green apple skin. The palate is light- to medium-bodied with electric acidity, a generous mouthfeel, and highly complex notes of grapefruit rind, flint, lime curd and river stones. A masterfully constructed wine that will age for decades to come.

95 Points, The Vintage Journal (Andrew Caillard MW & Ken Garrett)

Pale colour. Fragrant lemon curd, lifted bath salts, developed oil skin notes and camomile. Beautifully concentrated wine, ample lemon-lime freshness, grapefruit and touch of lanolin. Plenty of vinosity and freshness carried by a fine loose-knit chalky texture and superb length.

2021 Vintage

97 Points, Wine Orbit (Sam Kim)

This is finely scented and tantalising on the nose, showing green pear, lime cordial, lemon peel and white floral nuances. The palate offers brilliant focus and sleek mouthfeel, superbly enhanced by delicate texture and perfectly pitched acidity, finishing exceptionally long with outstanding tension and poise.

95 Points, The Vintage Journal (Andrew Caillard MW & Angus Hughson)

Pale colour. Attractive lemon, pure lime, hint of honeysuckle, ginger and verbena. Classical Eden Valley grace, well-concentrated lemon and lime flavours carried along by a line of fresh, long sherbet acidity and an appealing mid-palate viscosity and phonolic twist.

94 Points, James Suckling

This has so much precision and drive with flint, green pears, lime zest and rocks on the nose. Tight, tangy and zesty, with a medium body and a mineral, dry and linear palate. Long and focused

94 Points, Halliday Wine Companion (Dave Brookes)

Riesling from 550m elevation in the High Eden subregion of the Eden Valley. The outstanding 2021 vintage delivers yet again, providing laser-like precision, pure limey fruit and sapidity. There’s wonderful tension here between the fresh lime juice and blossom notes and the porcelain-like acid structure. Light phenolics add gentle texture and luff its sails but then that lip-smacking acidity powers through finishing crisp, dry and limey.

2020 Vintage

94 Points, James Halliday (Tyson Stelzer)

True to the 2020 season, this is a rich and powerful yet high-tensile riesling, launching out ripe and full with baked apple and kaffir lime fruit, morphing through the palate into a honed and tense finish of pure lemon and lime juice. Crystalline acidity unites seamlessly with powder-fine phenolic grip to lay out tension, structure and endurance.

94 Points, James Suckling

A very fresh, lemon and lime nose with sliced green-apple and sweet, floral perfume. The palate has a very juicy and neatly honed shape with long, lemon, white-peach and apple flavors. Long and even

93 Points, The Real Review (Ralph Kyte-Powell)

Very much in the classic style of generations past, it’s pale and shiny, with a big varietal nose suggesting lime juice cordial, dried flowers, bakery spice and steel. Plump in texture, full-flavoured, tightly-structured and dry, it’s a wine of real concentration and personality.

2019 Vintage

95 Points, James Hallliday

North-east aspect maximises morning sun, minimising sunburn. Hand-picked, chilled, whole-bunch pressed, very low extraction of 440l/t, fermented fully dry. A very expressive bouquet with a mix of pear/apple/grapefruit. The fruit flavour intensity is mouthfilling, half suggesting there’s some residual sugar, but there isn’t (1.1g/l of residual sugar can’t be detected).

93 Points, James Suckling

An elevated parcel (at 520m above sea level) in a low-yielding site that delivers fresh lime and sliced-apple aromas with textbook mineral and spice. The palate is wrapped into a smooth, concentrated mode and has acidity tethering the finish in long. Will drink well for a decade at least.

Left for 4 months on yeast lees before being prepared for bottling.

The High Eden sub-region of Eden Valley is a small and unique region designated by its high altitude, however, it is also defined by the schist soils and rocky outcrops, vast exposure and undulating hillside aspects, enhancing its suitability for growing Riesling. The skies over High Eden are typified by ‘Cirrus’ cloud formations for most of the growing and harvest seasons, making for a picturesque backdrop to the vineyards and a perfect name for this wine. The Cirrus Riesling is made from the very best Single Vineyard wine of High Eden and made in only exemplary years.
