Dense garnet in colour, with a complex and vibrant array of red-licorice and spiced plum aromas. The palate is rich, rounded and intensely flavoured, finishing with seamless velvety tannins. Delicious drinking upon release but will mature very well for the medium to longer term.

Fresh and vibrant with luscious aromas of dark cherries, blood plums, dried herbs and blackcurrants. The palate is medium- to full-bodied with finely integrated tannins and bright acidity, giving generous notes of mulberries, mocha, ferric earth and violets. A wonderful balance of fresh fruit with a savory undertone.
Shiraz sourced from the Marschall Family vineyard in the Tanunda and Ebenezer subregions of the Barossa Valley. Deep crimson with vibrant aromas of macerated satsuma plum, dark cherry and blackberry fruits with hints of ginger spice, clove, dark chocolate, tapenade, roasting meats and earth. You get a lot of Barossan shiraz goodness for your money here, deep, purely fruited, fine, toothsome tannins and a long, black-fruited draw on the finish.
Deep, deep crimson in the glass with aromas of macerated satsuma plum, black cherry and blackberry fruits and hints of baking spices, licorice, dark chocolate, earth, roasting meats and gently spiced oak. There is a depth and distinct ‘Barossa-ness’ that belies this wine’s prices tag. Structured and purely fruited; there is a lot of enjoyment here for the price tag. Yeah!
I like this. Unexpectedly fresh shiraz, full-weighted, detailed and impeccably poised. Bravo. A hint of reduction on the nose sashays effortlessly to clove, star anise and dusty riffs on turmeric and curry powder, before violets, blue fruits and iodine play a more typically regional shiraz card. This is my favorite wine of the recent suite in terms of sheer drinkability. Younger vines, longer extraction and superior tannins to the rest, the result. Crunch, sass and power all in one.
The 2022 Marschall Shiraz is a juicy, briny, spicy little number, and it feels generally like a celebration of the season. Pretty, succulent red fruit is framed by a splay of spicy, fine tannins, and all the while, there is a savory vein of flavor that courses through the fruit, stitching it all together and making it a far more interesting drink than its price point would suggest (AUD $29!). Excellent, again. I love the tannins—they’re chewy. 14.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap.

A wide range of fermentation techniques were utilised, but all involved extended skin contact ranging from 15 to 20 days. A cold soak period of up to 5 days occurred before a natural warming to start the fermentation. Upon completion the ferments were pressed to a mix of new and seasoned oak hogsheads, for malolactic fermentation and maturation. Matured in barrel with minimal intervention for 14 months, then naturally clarified, and bottled without filtration.
The Marschall Family vineyards are located in the Tanunda and Ebenezer districts of the Barossa Valley. The Tanunda vineyard is grown on sandy soils which typically produce aromatic styled Shiraz, while the rich iron clad soils of Ebenezer produce a more dense fruit core and structured styled wine.
The MARSCHALL is a Barossa Valley Shiraz, named as a tribute to the legendary Barossa Valley Vignerons who pioneered the planting of the old treasured vineyards, which the Barossa enjoys today. David Marschall was a man of many talents and in conjunction with growing exceptional fruit was a revered martial artist, actor and demolition expert. His legacy lives on through his vineyards within the Tanunda and Ebenezer districts, which make up the backbone of this wine.
