2026 Freya Eden Valley Riesling

Intense floral lemon blossom aromas lead to delicate citrus characters seamlessly backed with attractive spice notes. A long fine palate profile is well balanced with mid-palate flesh and zesty acidity typical of great dry Eden Valley Rieslings.

2025 VINTAGE

Gold Medal,  Winewise Small Vigneron Awards 2025
96 Points, Wine Orbit (Sam Kim)

It’s alluring and delicately fragrant on the nose, with lime cordial, crunchy apple, lemon pith and green tea aromas, followed by an elegant yet concentrated palate that delivers outstanding focus and drive. Mouth-watering and energetic with an ultra-fine finish.

95 Points, Halliday (Dave Brookes)

The Sons of Eden crew does Riesling well. It’s a dry, limey singularity, impressively focused with a stony, composed air as it sails true on the palate. All the things you’d expect from an Eden Valley Riesling are here: those Christmas lily and citrus blossom top notes, a splosh of Bickford’s lime cordial, that umami that presents like the slow ache of a flake of sea salt melting on the tongue, the freshly squeezed lime juice and the surprising rate it disappears from the glass. It’s great, refreshing drinking – of that there is no doubt.

93 Points, James Suckling (Ryan Montgomery)

Fragrant and vibrant aromas of lime blossoms, green apples, jasmine, crushed stones and lemon zest. The palate is light-bodied with crisp acidity and a dry, finely textured mouthfeel, finishing with purity and precision. Classic Eden Valley freshness and drive.

2023 VINTAGE

96 Points, Decanter (David Sly)

Like the stern but beautiful Norse goddess this wine is named after, it is formidable: bone dry, stoic and confident. Built around an austere line of sharp citrus, it also has good mineral grip and a pleasing lick of talc at the finish. There’s a concentration of flavours without forcing any element, amplifying the attributes of a superior vintage. Effortless balance is achieved in this powerful wine.

92 Points, Wine Advocate (Erin Larkin)

The 2023 Freya Riesling is taut and bitter, with orange peel, clove bud, crushed rocks and quartz, lemon rind and cold tea. On the palate, the wine is exactly this. It’s perfectly representative of the region and the variety.

92 Points, James Suckling (Ned Goodwin)

Typically regional Riesling that is palpably dry, mid-weighted and tensile, requiring a couple of years in the bottle to soften to its idyll. Scents of lemon drop, mandarin peel, quince and baked apple. A twist of quinine and sherbet, a little tangy, conclude.

  • Riesling 100%

Technical Details:

  • Alcohol 11.5% | pH 2.95 | Acidity 8.2 g/L | Residual sugar: 3.8 g/L

The fruit from each Riesling block was kept separate and chilled to 6C, prior to being whole-bunch pressed with only the finest free-run juice retained. The juice was cold settled for 7 days before being racked clear to begin fermentation. Fermented cool between 12-14°C for 2 weeks and then left for 4 months on yeast lees to build palate texture. The individual parcels were then blended and naturally stabilised before being bottled in early July 2026.

Freya was the foremost goddess of ancient Germanic lands where the Riesling grape originated. This wine honours early German settlers who cultivated the first Riesling vine in the exemplary micro-climate of the Barossa’s Eden Valley.
